COMPONENT WEAR

Component Wear

Most spindles need to be overhauled periodically, because machining processes cause component wear over the long term, particularly in the bearings, and this in turn reduces spindle functionality. Most maintenance is carried out in accordance with a schedule for periodic maintenance, based on spindle service life, and the average workloads to which spindles are subjected.

However, in many cases spindle loads cannot be precisely estimated, and this approach to maintenance might be inefficient (maintenance is carried out too frequently for the amount of wear incurred), or ineffective (the actual load incurred by the spindle is higher, resulting in unscheduled wear).
